crochet projects done and work in progress

welcome! hopefully all goes well with you!

it’s been about three weeks since i last wrote a blog post.

in recent weeks i finished the yellow vest and a new version of the orange spider bag.

this time it has become the lilac spider bag with a different type of top and handles, but the stitch pattern is the same. at first the shape of the bag has not become what i had in mind, i put it in the closet and have not looked at it for a few days and now i actually think the bag looks fine. i still have some improvements to make and after that i will post a couple of new photos.

the yellow shrug is also finished and as you can see it is not haute couture, but it wears very comfortable and feels so soft. i love the thing!collage yellow shrug by elisabeth andrée

opaline

a few years ago i worked on the blue diamonds blanket and although it is not quite done i want to do something similar.

and maybe you can remember the baby blanket? see here for the pictures and pattern. i had made some variations on the stitch pattern of that blanket, please see here for the photos. the large dark gray blocks i like the most and that is the pattern i chose to make a blanket of only those fake squares.

the new blanket will be a combination of the ideas of these three blankets.

the yarn is called opaline and it is phildar impact 6 and i crochet with hook size 6.5 mm. the color reminds me of sea glass and therefore i want to decorate the rug with colors that you can see on pictures of sea glass, see here or here

i still have a long way to go before the blanket is finished, but i find it quite fun to work on while imagine how i’m going to decorate it.

that is it for today, the ‘how to’ for the foldover bag is coming, please be patient for a little while?

crochet pyramid shaped cushion with embroidery stitches

welcome, nice of you to visit my blog!

the nutty pillow is waiting, unfortunately i did not have time and it is a little too warm to work on it. it is sunny and warm and it’s nice to go outside.

work in progress the NUTTY PILLOW

yesterday afternoon and evening, i’ve worked on the mustard yellow scarf, only a few stitches to go and then i can weave in the yarn ends.

i do not think i be able to post part two of the tutorial on my blog this week, but maybe in the weekend or shortly thereafter.

pyramid cushion

what i have done is finishing the pyramid shaped crochet cushion with embroidery stitches. the pyramid is stuffed with leftover white acrylic yarn that i cut into pieces.

it is also useful as a standard for my ipad on table or lap.

now i have three pyramids, all with a different look.

if you like to make one too here is the link to the original idea and this is the link to the tutorial for the pyramid made with 2sctog.

work in progress: crochet and embroidery

    how are you?!
since last week, no progress to show concerning my nutty pillow. i couldn’t work on it because i went for a weekend trip with my cousin renée to the north of the country and to visit my mother, who i had not seen for over a year. i had brought a small project with me to be able to crochet some stitches. it is the easiest stitch pattern i think and it will be a simple scarf.

monday was unexpectedly sunny and warm and i sat in my garden making embroidery stitches on my white pyramid in the works.

later this week i hope to publish some explanations about how to crochet the stitch pattern of the mustard yellow scarf.

i hope you will come along again!

    renée’s sofa blanket

my cousin renée and i are the two girls in the family with the boy’s names (renée and andrée), well we are now adult women of course. she herself is a creative person and lately i noticed that she is interested in recycling jeans.

not so long ago, we were in a small shop in the hague and there was a large basket full of doilies, not vintage doilies but probably made by women who live in the nearby retirement home. i bought two to make bowls of, one for renée and one for me, but it did not happen.

    denim

about a week ago i remembered that there were 12 balls denim colored acrylic yarn in my closet, waiting for a good project and see: a sofa blanket for renée.

    a doily with pizzazz

it is a narrow blanket made of double crochets only until the yarn was on with just the right size to fit on a couch, adorned with one of the doilies and a wool white edge. the doily i have sewn onto the blanket with pastel colored yarn and also some stitches in neon colors to give it a bit more pizzazz.

first i wanted to sew the doily onto the blanket with white thread, but i remembered the post on tiff’s dottie angel and i found the embroidery stitches with colored yarn a prettier option.

doily with embroidery stitches on renée’s sofa blanket. the blanket and the doily i washed separately, the doily i then ironed while it was still damp and only then sewn onto the blanket.

    enjoy renée!

have a lovely weekend everyone and until next time!

    color inspiration

hopefully you had a cozy and warm (easter) weekend.
just before the yellow yarn seduced me to purchase it ;), i was busy with choosing colors for a new pouf. yet another poof, you may think, but the gray one ‘has left me’ to live with my youngest brother. the large purple pouf is still waiting for someone who likes to have it. for the summer to come, i have another, somewhat softer color scheme in mind, the warm woolly cushion covers i will wash, fold and put in the closet.

for the new pouf i last year bought yarn in a beautiful combination of colors, i think…

    color scheme pouf

but after a few rows i stopped, because i can not work with it and i was frustrated. this yarn does not split a little bit but it splits in a terrible way, i will keep it in a box until i know what i can do with it.

    splitting yarn

luckily at the beginning of this year a web shop had a sale and i bought cabotine phildar, a bleached peachy color (second from the left), it is almost a neutral shade.  so i was looking for what i thought was a nice combination with similar yarn from my stash and i thought about embroider decorative stitches on the cover too.

    colors for pouf

i had put it aside for a while and looked on facebook and there was just posted a photo by someone whose work i admire for a couple of years. the colors resembled those of my yarn and her work looked so beautiful. i sent her a message to ask if i could post her photo on my blog and within half an hour i had a positive response including the picture.

i love it! thanks for the image karen barbé!
