the necklaces with the crochet strings are finished!

how to wear?

you can wear the necklace with the strings loose, but the intention is actually this:

put the necklace over your head with the little straight piece at the back of the neck. in this little piece the strings are fixed and they can not slide….

then make a large knot in the strings…

and wear the necklace with pleasure!

i hope you like the concept!

a small addition due to the question of whether the strings are made of only chains. they are not, see the photo below. the upper string are only chains, the lower are the two sides of a string of which the necklaces have been made. these strings meander.

i had not realized that to others it may be difficult to imagine how it looks like when you’re wearing one of the necklaces. i thought, you put the thing over your head and then you make a knot in the strings:) i do not want to be unkind so i made a photo, it a not a good one because it is early evening and cloudy here, but it is the impression that counts, doesn’t it?

have a lovely weekend!

crochet jewelry

hello, nice of you to come by!

the last few weeks i have made some jewelry for children, just for fun. one necklace is more mature.

not everything is equally successful, but about a few i am more satisfied like the necklace with the many cords (the more mature one) and the bracelets. especially the bracelets i found enjoyable to make. unfortunately the photos are not sharp and clear but what do you think of the jewelry?

regarding whether to continue blogging, i am impressed by all the lovely comments and emails, it makes me feel good that you have written me, really!
hopefully i can – for the time being- use posterous and who knows they come together with twitter with a new form of blogging. i have most of my blog posts imported into wordpress, but i am not happy with it. so, still thinking, still busy and still i have not taken a final decision. to be continued.

have a great week!
close up of

tiny squares

have you started working with the tutorial for the small triangles and squares?

after the tutorial was finished i felt like making a lot of tiny squares. on pinterest, someone wrote me that she was busy with these little squares to make a cushion cover, but later it became a blankie. more about that another time.

i have other things made

a new makeup bag for moi. there was not have enough yellow yarn, so one side is white. if you places it down flat it’s like a cheese sandwich with a burnt edge;)

from the remaining yellow yarn and some other colors, this little case.

to do the daughters of friends a favor, two necklaces and a bracelet.

and finally this little shopping bag.

with a small motif as a basis you can make many different things. hopefully you grab your crochet hook and yarn and make your own creation.

for the bag, the little case and the makeup bag i used catania yarn in multiple colors.

have fun!

to sew or pin on something

on my crochet board on pinterest i pinned a pattern for a granny square with a floral motif. the pattern is written by hayley of pinkfluffywarrior. among other large projects, i wanted to make something small and i chose this pattern.

i crocheted with black and orange cotton crochet 10 yarn and hook size 2 mm.
the motif i can sew on my white or black shirt, or i can attach it on a brooch pin and wear it on a sweater or jacket.

hope you like the idea?!
wishing you a wonderful week!

curly bracelet

you do not like hearts and valentine’s day to you is ….?

make a nice bracelet for yourself!

the stitch technique is the same as for this scarf cowl, see here

curly-scarf - elisabeth andrée

you can use yarn of all types, thick or thin, just adjust the number of your beginning chains.

there are some differences between the scarf and the bracelet:

  1. the number of stitches
  2. the thickness of the yarn
  3. for the scarf h dc and for the bracelet sc.
  4. the number of strings.

next to a bracelet or scarf, a single string would be nice to sew along the edge of a cushion. or do you have an invitation for a dinner or party and no money to buy new clothes? if you have a basic t-shirt or blouse and yarn in the same color: make two bracelets and slide them to the ends of the sleeves. many garments have spare buttons you may use.

how to?

for the yellow bracelet i used thin yarn: dmc petra 5, a yellow fake pearl and a 2 mm crochet hook.

  1. for the first string you make 70 chains plus 1 extra to start
  2. crochet 2 sc into the 2nd chain from hook, crochet 3 sc in the next ch and in each subsequent chain until the end of row
  3. don’t fasten off but make again 70 chains plus 1 extra and repeat 2. for the second and following rows.
  4. do not cut the yarn when you’ve made the last string, because you will now crochet 1 sc in all ends of the strings. maybe an extra sc is necessary to create a perfectly straight part at the end of the bracelet. make the length and width just the size you like and need for the button or bead. if you are satisfied fasten off.
  5. attach the yarn at the other end of the first string. now make sure the strings are not twisted with each other. then you can crochet the second end of your bracelet, but do not forget to make a buttonhole.
  6. fasten off and your bracelet is ready.
