crochet opaline blanket in the works

so glad you come again for a visit, thank you!

the opaline blanket now has nearly five rows of faux blocks and i started with the eleventh ball of yarn.

i have buttons and beads gathered together, crocheted a few motifs and bought some yarn that all fit the theme seaglass. i do not know if i will use every single thing, but i like to decorate the blanket with the various items that you can see on the pictures.

the crochet flower motifs i made some years ago and i don’t have instructions for them. the small squares and the cups are made with katia jaipur and the patterns can be found here and here

the evenings are pretty cold, but fortunately the opaline blanket is now large enough to keep me warm while sitting on the couch and working on it.

later today i like to join ginny’s yarn along at small things

this is all for today, wish you an enjoyable rest of the week and hopefully see you soon!

green and white

while the world outside is snowy white

i have brought a little spring into my home with small daffodils that have yet to unfold.

and i enjoy crocheting. my blocks blanket progresses and i have a clear vision of what the end result will look like. this is the overview of the colors i use.

below some more pictures of the squares and as always i am curious to your opinion:)!

japanese squares for BBB 2013

these three blocks are my contribution to the beautiful blogger blanket 2013. monday i sent them so if the post cooperates jill will receive them soon.

honestly i must tell you that these squares are actually plan b. i just can not work well with thick cotton yarn (double knit), i normally work with thinner yarn suitable for hook size 2.5 – 3 mm.

plan a. was to crochet flower squares but the flower turned out bumpy, sloppy and stiff as cardboard. my intention was to crochet these flowers in four different colors and the squares in four different neutral tones.
on to plan b.
it are other squares with neutral shades for the centers and the colors around it.

alas, plan b. went also not quite right, my thumbs and index fingers were so painful that i could not make a fourth one. the day after my thumbs were a bit swollen, so i’m aiming not to work with thick cotton yarn anymore. it is obvious that i am doing something wrong, besides the fact that my hands are not so strong anymore.

when i have time i make these patterns again – because i really like them – but with thinner yarn.
these are the patterns i used for the squares,
it are all diagrams/charts instead of written patterns:

if you like this website too (their yarns look all very beautiful) but do not know where to look for the links to the pdf documents: look at the yellow arrow on the picture below, that’s the link to download the pattern.

i hope you can use this information!
wish  you lots of fun with crocheting the patterns!

what now?

it is messy in my head, for different reasons. one of the effects is the amount of projects i’m working on at the same time. the last few weeks i have working on a square bag in the evenings, and then of course there is my summer blanket. he’s probably ready next summer. the makeup bags still need their lining and zippers. i found projects in a box whose existence i had forgotten but they had no longer my motivation and inspiration, like a sweater and a big black bag.

and these things….all white

dozens of small flowers
mostly try outs and the tiny flowers on the second photo were meant to sew on a scarf, but it did not happen.

71 of these flowers
i can not remember why i have made them, i still like them a lot. i’ve foolishly crochet them with an odd number of leaves, so unless sewn them on something or crochet rounds (like coasters), i would not know what i could do with them. suggestions are welcome:)

these squares have all a different center and then i have made squares of them. i’ve written down somewhere how i did that, but i lost my notes. clever isn’t it? i’m thinking about what i can do with these blocks, and i have one or two ideas.

very colorful
well, and this is one of my biggest failures … it was meant to be a cosmetic bag or handbag, but everything is wrong with the thing. i get a bit annoyed when i look at him, only the colors i still like.

i think my language is getting messier too… i’ll be back soon.

your comment is like always very welcome!
