crochet art project for marinke and a break

how good to see you again!

this will be my last blogpost…..  you can find more info at the bottom of this post.

crochet art project

first the news about marinke and the crochet art project organized by kathryn vercillo of crochetconcupiscence.com. below an excerpt from her newsletter of 4 july.

“you’ve likely already heard the sad news that crochet designer marinke “wink” slump of a creative being lost her life to suicide last week.

in the aftermath of hearing the news, i felt like i needed to do something to deal with my own grief and bring our community together so i’ve created the mandalas for marinke crochet art project in wink’s honor.

this crochet project is intended to celebrate the amazing creativity that wink brought to the world with her crochet. hopefully her crochet patterns can keep inspiring the world for many years to come.”

flowery

below pictures of my version of wink’s standard mandala but i gave it a twist with some surface crochet and a different edge. i wanted to create something that is basic with a flowery character and this is the result. yesterday i sent it to america.used yarn is a combination of phil coton 3 and catania with crochet hook size 3.5 mm.

and then something about myself

in february 2011 i started blogging to have a sort of task. i have health problems since 1992, but in 2011 it was definite that i could no longer work. therefore, blogging was and is important to me but about the last six months – because of my health – i managed less often to write a blog post. it all became a little too much for me. luckily i still manage to crochet, make photos and publish them on instagram and i try to keep doing that. there you can find the pictures of the projects i am currently working on and other things. if you like, here is the link to my instagram feed

i don’t close the door because maybe my health improves in the coming months and i’ll be back posting. in the autumn of this year i will tell you whether i’m going to stop permanently or start blogging again.

there are a few things that i promised to do (like writing a how to for making a foldover bag) but this time i have to say sorry i can’t keep my promise.

for everyone who came to my blog for a visit and even wrote one or more comments: thank you a thousand times! it meant and means a lot to me, perhaps more than you realize.

please keep creating, crocheting, knitting, sewing, sculpting, painting, writing and more and thereby make our world an even more beautiful place to live.

take care!

crochet charcoal cowl with buttons

hello!

hope it goes well with you?! it’s been a while since i wrote my last blog post, real life took almost all my time. i have neglected my blog, but also the reader and therefor i didn’t visit many blogs and didn’t write many comments. hopefully you will forgive me !?

well, i did post a picture on instagram almost daily, because i keep crocheting.

the charcoal cowl is finished, i added no other colors, but i made a button closure.

i had problems with the color difference of the yarn, because not all balls were of the same dye-lot. i solved it by first working with the lightest shade until i was halfway the amount of it and did the same with the darkest shade. i then attached the lightest shade at the beginning chains (on the other side of them) and continued to work in the same way.
the spaces between the groups of double crochets were large enough to function as button holes, so i only had to find buttons with the right size and color.
very simple and i am satisfied with the end result.

more info about the stitch pattern you can find via this link

that is it for today, i will try to be back soon, but please have a little patience with me?

have a wonderful day and until next time!

soft ribbels blanket finished!

welcome!
today the light is good and bright enough to make some photos, it is cold with faint sunlight.
the soft ribbels crochet blanket is finished and below you can see the pictures of the result!

after many attempts i decided not to make an edge. i hesitated and hesitated and have the blanket washed and after it was dry, again made several attempts but eventually i decided: no edge. so this is an edgeless blanket 🙂

for two nights i already slept under it and it turns out to be a warm blanket, because besides the blanket i only have a summer duvet and i didn’t have it cold at all. it is stretchable and it feels comfortable and warm.

i am happy with it, hope you like to take a look at the photos!
if you like to crochet soft ribbels too, here is the link to the how to
thanks for visiting, see you next time!

faux crochet again

welcome!

a new week ahead, hope it will be a great week!

some of you are (already) really busy for christmas and i thought maybe i can help you just a little. last year i made some printable faux crochet stars which you still can find here and my post about christmas decoration to crochet including patterns and links to patterns which you can find here.

this weekend i made something new for you to print:

some of them are faux crocheted and some are more natural like plants or flowers. you can print them, cut and glew them on gifts or on cardboard and make a garland. you can decorate them with glittery thing or anything you like to do. maybe something nice to do with children or for yourself to relax.

here is the link to the document (pdf, 4 pages).

hope you will enjoy it! 🙂

i will be back later this week with some crochet.

thanks for visiting!

crochet work in progress: bags and cases

hello!!

we are already halfway through the week and it is time to show the projects i’m working on the last few days. hope you like to take a look at the photos 🙂

the yarn i crochet with is “scheepjes stonewashed XL”, a mix of 70% cotton with 30% acrylic. scheepjes is a dutch label and the yarn is beautiful. i’m using crochet hook 5.0 mm and work pretty tight because i want to make a firm fabric which will keep the bags in better shape while carry more weight.

projects in the works crochet bags and cases

different colors

the black with yellow stripes, will be a fold-over bag, one of the two small cases i like to use as a makeup bag and/or to hold other smaller things i always carry around with me.  the mesh bag i want to keep pretty small, because i – also – want to put it in the fold-over bag for unexpected buys so i can avoid plastics.

the two cases that you see on the pictures are for a crocheter who has hooked before, easy to make. if you like to have some explanations how to make them please write me a comment. i am not talking about a pattern or tutorial, just the explanations. you can write a comment below until 45 days after today 🙂
