small squares

how are you, did you enjoy the weekend?

i thought let me write a post and wish you a good fresh new week with lots of sunshine and creative things to do!

last week the lacy with dots blanket was finished and i wanted to make a few small squares for no reason but i could not stop making them.

to make the squares i have crocheted the first four rows of this pattern (picnic blanket).

for the first three rows i have used leftover yarn from this project (cushion cover) and this project (bag with fishes).

for the last row i have used katia new cancun yarn (gray, off white and green) that i bought on the local market recently.  it is the same type of yarn that i used for this cushion cover.

now i have no more variegated yarn but there is a pile of small squares on my table.

actually i’m not sure what to do with the squares, although i have a few ideas. to be continued…

have a great week!

  1. Lovely! All the color combinations are gorgeous. Can’t wait to see what you make with these!

  2. Ook al zulke leuke kleurtjes!
Goed idee om multi gekleurd garen te combineren met effen. Zo krijg je de levendigheid van granny squares, maar met minder losse draadjes om weg te werken.

  3. sometimes a few granny square are very therapeutic to make!!

  4. I liked them all!! Pretty!

  5. Gorgeous squares!!!! I love the way you displayed them!!!!
    xxxxxx Ale

  6. I love the colors. Can you tell me are the squares about 4″? And about how many skeins or yards did you have of the variegated. I would like to do this too.

    • Hello Koni,
Thanks for visiting and your comment!
The squares are just a little over 6 cm. I had almost 3 skeins of the lighter version of the variegated yarn and not even half a skein of the darker version. It is a mix of cotton and acrylic, suitable for crochet hook size 3.5 mm. Later this week I will show some pictures to illustrate a little trick that I used for the 4th/last row. Good luck with your project!

  7. Lovely fresh clean colours.

  8. Pretty squares – I like the blue, green and white variegated yarn colors. 🙂
