attach the main color yarn onto the first 5 chain space after a corner of your scarf, 1 sc in same space, 3 ch, 2 sc in next 5 ch space, 3 ch, 2 sc in next 8 ch space (= corner of a square), **8 ch (try not crochet too tight), draw up a loop in 2nd ch from hook and in all next ch (= 8 loops on hook), yarn over and pull through all loops on hook in one go, make 1 sc to fasten/secure the shell, 2 sc in next 8 ch space (= corner of next square)**, 3 ch, 2 sc in next 5 ch space, etcetera, end with 1 sc next to the first sc you made, no ss but sew the yarn (see ****).

between ** and ** is 1 shell

what you do is crochet 2 sc in every 5 ch space with 3 ch between them and you make 2 sc in every 8 ch space with a shell between them.

corners

the 4 corners of the scarf are a tiny bit different: 2 sc in 8 ch space, make a shell, 2 sc in the same 8 ch space.

 **** the last stitch

1 sc next to the first sc you made, cut the yarn, with an embroidery needle sew under the two loops of the first sc, pull yarn loosely, sew under the back loop of the last sc (on the 3rd picture you can see i did it wrong), pull yarn loosely, weave in ends on the backside of your scarf. see also the photos of part 1 of the tutorial under the heading: another technique when changing colors.

  1. i LOVE IT !!!!!!!! XO

  2. This is so pretty Elisabeth and your instructions seem so clear… I am tempted to give it a try, though I’ve never lifted a crochet hook. Am I nuts? : )

  3. This looks really sweet. What yarn would you recommend for this project?

  4. Thanks for your comment SeaweedAndraine! For this project you can use the same or similar yarn. It is very soft and a tiny bit fluffy. These materials I used: – hook size 3 mm- micro bamboo schachenmayr nomotta: 50% viscose bamboo – 50% acrylic – 50 gr, 145 m,- shades: aqua, orchid, apricot, vanilla: 1 skein each and grey: 2 skeins.

  5. Thanks Alisa! There are no complicated stitches in this project, but all in all making the scarf requires some experience. Do you like a challenge?

  6. Method is simple and easy that Sagrb Thank you.
