this cover is for a narrow tall vase but you can adjust the pattern the way you want.
used stitches (american english):
- ch = chain
- ss = slip stitch
- dc = double crochet
- half dc = half double crochet
- st = stitch
first make a magic ring
1. 3 ch and then make 11 dc in ring, ss to 3 ch
2. 2 ch and 1 dc in first dc, 2 dc in the next 11 dc, ss to 2nd ch
3. ss to first space between two dc’ s of previous row (see photo), make 2 ch and 1 dc in first space, *1 ch and 2 dc between next groups*, repeat between * and * to end of row, end with 1 ch and ss to 2nd ch
4. same as row 3 but now make groups of 3 dc’ s
5. same as row 3 but now make groups of 4 dc’ s
if necessary keep increasing until desired size
6. 2 ch and then 1 half dc in every dc of previous row and 2 half dc in every ch space, ss to 2nd ch
7. keep crocheting rows of halve dc’ s until you reach the height you like (i did about 11 cm)
8. 3 ch (= first dc and 1 ch), sk 1 half dc, 1 dc in next st, *1 ch, sk 1 st, 1 dc in next half dc,*, repeat between * * till end, ss to 2nd ch
9. 3 ch (= first dc and 1 ch), sk 1 dc, 1 dc in next st, *1 ch, sk 1 st, 1 dc in dc*, repeat between * * till end, ss to 2nd ch
repeat row 9 until desired height (i did 8 rows = about 5 cm)
10. make 2 half dc’s in every dc of previous row, sk the ch spaces, start the row with 2 ch en end with ss in 2nd ch
11. next two rows are ss in every stitch – this creates an edge

You can enlarge the bottom to crochet one or more additional rows and if you vase widen upwards you can crochet more chains.
