doily into bag – part 2

did you download and crochet the doily?

then you have now the bottom of your bag-to-be. if you want to have the larger version of the bag (blue) it is necessary to make the circle larger. how to do that i described in part 1 of the pattern, see note 3.

here is part two for the second half of the doily into bag.

for blue and white bag

row 1. 2 ch, 1 dc in the next 2 st, 1 ch, *1 dc in de next 3 dc, 1 ch*, repeat between * * till end of row, attach with ss in the 2nd ch at the beginning of the row.

repeat row 1. 20 times, that makes 21 rows.

row 22. 2 ch, in de next 2 st crochet 2 dc together, 2 ch, *1 dc in next dc, in de next 2 st crochet 2 dc together, 2 ch*, repeat between * * till end of row, ss in 2nd ch at the beginning of the row.

row 23. ch 5 (is 1 dc and 3 ch), *crochet 2 dc in the next 2 dc together, 3 ch*, repeat between * * till end of row, attach with ss to 2nd ch at the beginning of the row.

row 24. 6 ch (is 1 dc and 4 ch), 1 dc in next dc, *4 ch, 1 dc in next dc*, repeat between * * till end of row, attach with ss to 2nd ch at the beginning of the row.

for white bag only

row 25. repeat row 24 another 3 times, that makes 4 rows.

row 27,28,29,30. 6 ch (is 1 tr and 3 ch), *1 tr in next dc, 3 ch*, repeat between * * till end of row, ss in 3rd ch at the beginning of the row.

row 31,32. 10 ch (is 1 tr and 7 ch), *1 tr in next tr, 7 ch, sk 1 tr, 1 tr in next tr, 7 ch*, repeat between * * till end of row, ss in 3rd ch at the beginning of the row.

you have now 24 7ch spaces.

 

handles

row 33. make a number of chains to create the length you want for the handles and remember the number for the second handle. i did 45 ch, that is short.sk 5 tr and 6 spaces, sc into the 6th tr of the previous row, *6 sc in next space, 1 sc in tr* repeat between * * another 5 times, make your 2nd handle, sk 5 tr and 6 spaces, sc into the 6th tr of the previous row, *6 sc in next space, 1 sc in tr* repeat between * * another 5 times, ss to first stitch of the row.

row 34. *ss in the first ch and all the next ch of you handle, sc in all the sc between the two handles*, repeat between * * once more, ss to first stitch of the row.

row 35. ss in all stitches which are between beginning and end of your handles.

for blue bag

row 25,26,27. repeat row 24.

row 28,29,30. repeat row 24 but 3 instead of 4 ch between the dc’s.

row 31,32,33. 5 ch (is 1 tr and 2 ch), *1 tr in next dc, 2 ch*, repeat between * * till end of row, ss in 3rd ch at the beginning of the row.

row 34,35,36,37,38. 8 ch (is 1 dtr and 4 ch), *sk 1 tr, 1 dtr in next tr, 4 ch*, repeat between * * till end of row, ss in 4th ch at the beginning of the row.

you have now 48 spaces

 

handles

row 39. make a number of chains to create the length you want for the handles and remember the number for the second handle. i did 90 ch. sk 7 dtr and 8 spaces, sc into the 8th dtr of the previous row, *4 sc in next space, 1 sc in dtr* repeat between * * another 15 times, make your 2nd handle, sk 7 dtr and 8 spaces, sc into the 8th dtr of the previous row, *4 sc in next space, 1 sc in dtr* repeat between * * another 15 times, ss to first stitch of the row.

row 40. *ss in the first ch and all the next ch of you handle, sc in all the sc between the 2 handles*, repeat between * * once more, ss to first stitch of the row.

row 41. ss in all stitches which are between beginning and end of your handles.

fasten of and weave in all ends. ***

*** for both bags

if you want stronger and wider handles change row 34 (white) or 40 (blue) into this:
sc in all the stitches of the handles and all the stitches between the handles. repeat this row until you have the shape you like.
